The Power Of Habit

Charles Duhigg is a New York Times staff writer and the author of the recently release The Power of Habit – a book about the science of how our brains form habits. This was a fun project because the subject matter was so fascinating. Prior to the launch of his book, Charles had started a WordPress blog filled with teaser content, but it wasn’t getting much traffic.

I audited his entire existing web presence, uncovering nearly ten years of profiles and prior articles. Next, we revised the architecture of the blog, and I trained Charles on the important areas to optimize with each new post. Finally, we tweaked what was already a very robust social media presence to better engage followers, adding Google+ in the mix to benefit SEO. Since the book launch, Charles has had dozens of guest posting and speaking appearances across traditional and online media, quickly building his blog’s search equity. The Power of Habit reached #2 on the New York Times bestseller list in March 2012.
