Privilege (and those who lack the self-awareness to acknowledge it!) was a big theme in 2014. The always brilliant Jeffrey Zeldman writes about exactly WHY it’s so critical to explore privilege and bring together diverse teams to build internet products.

If “only young…white…upper middle-class ppl” work in tech “we’ll keep getting camera and hookup apps.”

If you’re not totally convinced that advertising is a toxic and deeply flawed system of supporting internet ‘content’ – can I interest you in a profile of the mastermind behind Dose.com (“Your Daily Dose of Amazing”)?
Next City is precisely the kind of reporting I always hope to discover on the internet. I tremendously enjoyed all the local voices in Susie Cagle’s exploration of gentrification in Oakland.
